DEADLY SEAL VIRUS HITS WEST
It is almost certain that the c o m m o n seal washed ashore on G a l way B a y this week died of the deadly seal virus, canine distemper, which has already claimed thousands o f seals in the N o r t h S e a and the Baltic a n d

which is feared to be spreading around Ireland. A post mortem is being carried out all this week on the Seal at the Regional Veterinary Laboratory in Athlone and while all tests have yet to be completed, spokesman for the centre, P. J. Dwyer, says initial indications are the Seal
