The 'Fun' Gymkhana
The Holiday Activity Group children and other pupils of Clonboe Rilling School enjoyed the fine weather on Saturday, 29th August, 1987, at the close of the Summer Activity Course. There were sixteen jumpers in the Jumping Competition - six went into the jump off. Mischa Shaughnessy achieved a clear round on Siani. Cieren Gannon w a s second and joint third was Elinor Hutton and Catrina Riordan. In the Pony Club g a m e s , t h e winners were: Clodagh Duggan, Catriona Riordan, Dani elle Keogh and Misha Shaughnessy. There was a display of excellent pictures and projects which the pupils had achieved during the Summer Course. The Ladies Riding Club will commence as from the first week in September - a number of mothers having watched their children during the summer are determined to 'have a go'. Baby minding service is offered to participants on Tuesdays, Wednes days and Thursdays.

It begins on Thursday (Sept. 24th) with the Irish Opening Championships in the Marauee at Spanish Parade. On Friday the Festival is officially opened with a dinner and dancing. Saturday is the main day with a parade through the City, the World Opening Champ ionships, Competitions, dance and music with the Festival Banquet at the Great .Southern Hotel. BUS STRIKE ENDS BUT PROBLEMS STILL LOOM...
CITY and Provincial Bus services in Galway resumed yesterday after workers voted to end the three week old strike which has also afTected Limerick, Cork and Waterford.
