What's on around Ireland...?
Banks of the Foyle Halloween Carnival
This Bank Holiday weekend sees Derry city play host to the Ireland's largest Halloween carnival, the Banks of the Foyle Halloween Carnival. The people in Derry sure don't do Halloween by halves. More than 40,000 people visit the city every year to join with the ghosts, witches, and warlocks there who come out ever year to take part in the colourful, free, street event. The fun actually begins on Monday, but it all goes mad from next Thursday on. There are so many fancy dress competitions that no one ends up a loser, and there's plenty of fun for children too. Murder mysteries, city sightseeing ghost tours, and pumpkin bashes are just part of the line-up, and on Monday October 31 Guildhall Square will come alive with carnival samba bands, the Elvis Spectacular Show, fireworks ,and the big Halloween Carnival Costume parade. For more information about the weekend's line-up and for some great weekend hotel offers see www.derryvisitor.com and www.discovernorthernireland.com.
