CADETSHIPS IN THE NAVAL SERVICE
Applications are invited for appointment as Cadets in the Engineer* ing Branch of the Naval Service. Up to seven appointments may be made. AGE LIMITS: 17-20 years on 1 July, 1979 or 17-21 years in the case of applicants who have certain service in the Permanent Defence Force, An Forsa Cosanta Aitiuil or An Slua Muiri. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: In the Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) have obtained at least Grade C on a higher level paper in two subjects and at least Grade D on a higher or lower level paper in three other subjects, the five subjects to include Mathematics and English. Applicants must have obtained the required educational qualifica tions at the time of applying. A smear clinic is held in the Maternity Department, Regional Hospital, Galway, on Friday afternoons from 2.00--4.00 p.m. (excluding Church and Bank holidays). Prior appointments to these clinics are not necessary. Siyned: PATRICK D. POWER, Director of Community Care and Medical Officer of Health.

A special pre-school project for 3 to 5 year old children with significantly delayed development has been estab lished at Woodlands Centre. The project forms part of a comprehensive early intervention programme offered to families with young mentally handicapped children. Two suitably qualified persons are required to run the project in close co-operation with two other members of the Early Intervention Team. They should be profess ionally qualified in an appropriate area, e.g. nursing of the mentally handicapped or pre-school teaching. Remuneration and Conditions: The post will pe wholetime and pensionable with remuneration in line with rates obtaining in the Health Board Services.
