Food 4 Thought Celebrates 25 Years in Business
Food 4 Thought is a family run business on Lower Abbeygate Street, that has been part of the local Galway food scene for the past 25 years. Kenneth Walsh, the current owner, has been running the business since 2003, and is well used to delivering quality Irish food to the people of Galway as he worked for many years for his late uncle Harry Lydon, in Lydon's Bakery. "My family have run a business from Prospect Hill since 1885 so it's with great pride that I have continued the tradition with Food 4 Thought. I love being from Galway and I love living here so even though I have worked all over the world, I always knew that this is where I would return." Food 4 Thought is primarily a vegetarian wholesome food restaurant and was the first of its kind when it opened in Galway in 1985. The restaurant has gone from strength to strength and now offers a range of daily specials in addition to the traditional dishes that have developed over the years. Under the guidance of Head Chef Phil Tobin, they now offer a different special every day of Fisherman's Pie, Spicy Vegetarian Burritos, Vegetarian Curry and Roast Chicken Risotto to name but a few. "We are very unique in what we do and the freshness, quality and consistency of our food is vital to our business, and what we strive for every day. It's important for people to eat a healthy and balanced diet and that's what we provide at a very reasonable price. We recently had the pleasure of serving Partrick Holford whose Zest4life nutrition and weight loss programme is known around the world. He was so impressed by what he had eaten he mentioned it during his seminar when he told his audience that he had a beautiful wholesome lunch in Food 4 Thought which he enjoyed very much." Its this kind of recognition that keeps Ken striving for more. "Its always nice to hear someone complement our food. It doesn't matter where the complement comes from, it's always great to hear." Ken explains that most of his customers are regulars, a fact of which he is very proud, and this enforces his desire to ensure the quality and consistency of the food he provides. "I work in the business myself, and this allows me to maintain high standards in both the quality of the food we produce and the service we provide. We work very hard to produce great food and offer real value for money and this is only possible through the help and support of my family, my staff and my suppliers." Food 4 Thought also offer a wide range of Scones, Salads, Paninni's, Wraps, Baps, Smoothies and Desserts. They make everything on the premises daily using only the finest ingredients to ensure its freshness and quality. Food 4 Thought is open six days a week from 7.30 am (8am on Saturdays) and all their food is available for take-away on 091-565854.
