The hugely popular TG4 reality show Feirm Factor will take its twelve contestants to Martin Divilly's Butchers in Westside this week, as they go head to head to become the next Feirm Factor Champion. Martin explains as part of this week's challenge, the contestants have to identify popular cuts of meat - not as easy as you might think! Maura Derrane and fellow judges Alan Dukes and Sean Lionaird will preside over proceedings as they search out who has the Feirm Factor and will drive home in the brand new Land Rover Discovery.

Galway to have its own X factor for classical quartets
BY KERNAN ANDREWS Classical quartets and musicians across Ireland will have the chance to take part in open auditions to become the 2010 Galway Apprentice Ensemble in Residence. The ConTempo Quartet, Galway's Ensemble in Residence, is launching the all-Ireland search. The eventual winners will receive dedicated tuition time with ConTempo, be provided with practice space and resources to further their instrumental proficiency, and opportunities for concert performance. The position will run for one year, starting in April, and is offered to established ensembles wanting to further enrich their experience of ensemble music. It may also suit musicians coming together for the first time. The closing date for the Apprentice Ensemble Scheme is Friday February 26 with auditions taking place in Galway from Tuesday March 2 to Sunday 6.
