Galway Filipinos to host annual Christmas party
BY KERNAN ANDREWS The Galway Filipino Irish Community will hold its annual Christmas Party on Thursday December 17 at the Westwood Hotel, Newcastle, from 7pm. The guest of honour will be the Filipino Ambassador to Ireland, Ariel Abadilla, and there will be a Christmas musical variety show. The main event will be a Christmas Lantern `Parol' contest open to the members of GFIC with a theme of "Parol, feel the Filipino Christmas Spirit". For Filipinos, the Christmas Lantern or Parol is the most popular Christmas symbol, symbolising the light to guide people through the festive season and coming New Year. The organisers are encouraging GFIC members and friends to attend. For ticket reservations and details on the Parol contest contact Bernard (086 - 2145100), Sepner (086 - 1529178), or Nancy (086 - 3360318).
