Galway storyteller to play the London stage again
BY KERNAN ANDREWS Galway storyteller Clare Muireann Murphy is returning to London to tell her tales at The Barbican, following her sold out solo performance at Shakespeare's Globe theatre in November 2008. On Friday October 30 at 8pm Clare will take to the stage of The Barbican, the largest multi arts centre in Europe. The show, titled Four Quarters, and hosted by The Crick Crack Club, is a showcase for four emerging new young voices in storytelling in Ireland and England. "It is a great honour to play onstage at the Barbican theatre with such a diverse range of voices," said Clare. "I am very excited to see such international recognition of the new wave of young voices in storytelling." Along with her international touring schedule, Clare continues to host Story Night on the first Tuesday of every month at the Spirit Centre on Nuns Island. S e e www.myspace.com/clare muireannmurphy

TG4 to delve into life an a neglected author
BY KERNAN ANDREWS Molly Keane was one of the most prolific Irish authors of the 20th century, yet she is also one of the most neglected. A new TG4 documentary on her life and work - Molly Keane Faobhar ar a Guth - which will be broadcast this Sunday, will set to give her some due recognition. Keane often wrote under the pen name M J Farrell and it was only at the time of her death in 1981 that she began to receive some attention for her novel Good Behaviour. A native of Kildare, she spent much of her life in Ardmore in Waterford. In this programme journalist and author Catherine Foley goes in search of Molly Keane and, with the help of friends and critics, sets her literary reputation in context. Molly Keane - Faobhar ar a Guth is produced by Forefront Productions.
