Ganley alleges existence of orchestrated campaign against his posters
BY KERNAN ANDREWS Thousands of election posters belonging to Libertas leader and Ireland North West EU candidate Declan Ganley have been disappearing, only to be replaced with posters of other candidates. According to Mr Ganley, Galway city, Donegal town, and various other areas have been "badly hit", with Galway in particular having been repostered twice, "only to see the posters disappear again". "In Eyre Square, Galway, and on the Tuam Road leading into the city, Ganley posters miraculously transformed into posters of other candidates on Tuesday night last," Mr Ganley said. "Some people cannot bear to be challenged, and are reduced to removing election posters in order to try and damage my campaign." Mr Ganley has alleged that the removal of his posters is "orchestrated" and he feels it is a way of stifling debate on both Ireland and the EU and the future of the EU itself. "The attempt to stifle debate and discussion is worrying," he said. "However, I consider this only a distraction. I hereby challenge the other candidates to debate on the real issues affecting this constituency which is economic recovery and job creation."
