IPA education programmes at Athenry Vocational School
Obtaining further education qualifications is a proven means of career advancement. For over 50 years, the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) -- one of Ireland's most eminent academic institutions -- has been providing third-level qualifications to adult students keen to develop their careers. Adults returning to education have different needs to younger students; they need to be sure that the programme they choose fits their particular lifestyle. IPA courses recognise this fact and are designed to be flexible and student-friendly. In 2008-2009, the IPA will offer students at Athenry Vocational School the opportunity to obtain nationally recognised undergraduate qualifications in public management and business studies. These programmes are specifically designed for students who want to obtain a highly regarded qualification while keeping their various professional and personal commitments. As the programmes are part time, students can remain in full-time employment while working toward awards that are accredited by the National University of Ireland, a family of institutions that includes UCD, UCC, NUI Galway, and NUI Maynooth. Athenry students will receive interim awards as they progress from certificate level qualifications right through to a Bachelor of Arts (hons)) degree. They can also specialise in areas of specific relevance to them, be it marketing, accounting, local government management, healthcare management, or human resource management, to name but a few of the streams on offer. Positioned between levels six and nine of the National Framework of Qualifications, these programmes tick all the right boxes for those returning to education. Further information will be available at an information evening at Athenry Vocational School on Monday September 15 at 7pm.
