New playground for Oughterard
A playground is finally on the cards for Oughterard following a committment by Galway County Council is to allocate funding for the project. Confirmation of the funding allocation, which is subject to the committee complying with various requirements, was made to Cllr Thomas Welby who has been working actively with the committee. A certain amount of local funding will have to be provided and the committee will be carrying out fundraisers in the next few months. The playground will be situated on a site adjacent to the main car park and Health Centre in Oughterard, which was contributed by the Corribdale Grounds committee. The Oughterard Credit Union has also informed the committee that it will contribute to this worthwhile project.
