Location of Lands for Burial Ground
The two main burial grounds in use in the City are Rahoon (Mount Saint Joseph) and Bohermore Cemetery. Galway City Council wish to acquire land bank(s) within the City or adjacent to the City for the development of new burial grounds.

In times of plenty it is easy to forget those who are less well off

Land bank(s) need to be suitable for use as a burial ground(s) and in particular be free of rock, have adequate depth of suitable soil and have a low water table. Accordingly the City Council now invites landowners who own suitable land banks and who would be willing to dispose of such suitable lands for burial grounds to contact the undersigned and advise of such suitable lands. The latest date for receipt of such information is Friday 30th November 2007, at 4 pm.
