SUMMER fashion GUIDE

April 19 2007

Men will be men
When it comes to men's fashion the catwalks are full of great ideas for your summer wardrobe. Take your pick of styles this summer from bold colours, 50s Americana, and vintage army jackets. So which style will you choose this summer?

Rock on
The rock star look is all in for summer 2007. Get yourself a rock t-shirt, a waist coat, and a leather jacket, and rock on! Graphic tshirts with waistcoats and accessories with stripes, skull and crossbones, and buckles are all in. This look probably isn't the best for the office, but is perfect for the rock festival weekends ahead this summer.

50s Americana
Retro is everywhere this summer. For men it is all about 50s Americana. Think slim fitting shirts, cardigans, and slacks. If you are looking for inspiration, watch Grease. The 50s diner look is all in. Choose colours like toffee brown, pink, yellow, and blue. Look out for striped cardigans and polo shirts. Thanks to bands such as Kings of Leon skinny jeans are all in for men. Be warned though, unless they have Lycra in them they may get uncomfortable.

GI Joe
Urban wear gets a revamp for spring 2007. Military inspired detailing is mixed with a layered laundered look. Musicians seem to be the big inspiration this summer when it comes to men's fashion. Bands such as Kasabian and Dirty Pretty Things inspire the

army vintage look -- distressed fabrics take on a rock-star grunge edge. Accessorise with canvas bags, workmen's boots, ripped denim, smart military trenches, casual parkas, beaten up converse, cuffs, and military edging on shirts and jumpers.

Key pieces for men this summer
Skinny jeans: skinny jeans are all in this summer for men as well as women. Be warned though, the tighter they are the more uncomfortable they are. Look out for skinny jeans with a Lycra mix. Tunics: middle ground between tailoring and casual wear. Always maintain a relaxed feel; tunics can never be teamed with a tie. Go for soft pastel shades to keep you airy through the summer months. Going grey: grey is still the colour in the fashion world. Forget about those boring grey suits. Instead wear your grey casually. Mix and match colours, try pairing a grey polo shirt with a pink cardigan. Colour me beautiful: don't be afraid to add some colour to your summer wardrobe. Blue and orange are key colours for men this summer. However be realistic about what bright colours you do wear, and make sure to wear them with neutral colours. Get stripy: striped t-shirts, jumpers, and cardigans are still big for men this season. Go for pastel colours and avoid going overboard. Look out for bold stripes and avoid too many colours that may make you look a little wider than you are! Design your own t-shirt: that's right folks. Get creative with your t-shirts and make them as individual as you want. Decoration on t-shirts, and even jeans, is all in this season so get creative!
