Holy Communion style
Simplicity and elegance are the keynotes of the Holy Communion collections this year. Styles have become more simple yet more elegant and classically romantic, according to Anthony Ryan's of Shop Street. "Ankle length and full length dresses are particularly popular this year with the princess style lending a fairytale feeling. Fabrics of satin and organza tend to be the most popular. "Embroidery tends to be discreet and large simple bowties or buttons to the back are a strong feature. Head-dresses and head tiers are simple and elegant while dresses with boleros complete the total look. There is an abundance of delightful accessories such as bags, gloves, umbrellas, socks and tights. You can also get Communion footwear which is sold in satin finishes and ballet styles." The looks for boys vary greatly but the classic jacket and tie remains the favourite. Ryan's also offer dapper formal suits, less formal waistcoat suits or more casual styles.s

Catarrh, a reaction to irritation of the mucous membranes in the nasal passages, can be a problem at any time of year. But it's even more common in winter when colds and flu abound. It can be caused by an allergic reaction to something in the environment, diet, or chemical pollutants in the home as well as the after effects of a winter bug. Bioforce, the makers of Alfred Vogel herbal remedies, offer the following tips for reducing catarrh:* Get more fresh air, breathing deeply and filling the lungs with oxygen away from traffic fume * Avoid dairy products such as milk, butter and cheese which are a common cause of excessive mucous production and cut down on white flour and sugar * Change to environmentally friendly cleaning products to avoid harmful chemicals which can irritate the nasal passages * Take an antioxidant food supplement such as vitamin A, C and E to help heal
