Oranmore Gaelscoil gets flashing lights
BY MARIA DALY An allocation of 7,000 has been made by Fine Gael Councillor Fidelma Healy Eames for the provision of school flashing lights for Gaelscoil de hIde, Bog Road, Oranmore. The funding came after a request was made by parents and management of the Gaelscoil for school flashing lights to help regulate the traffic flow at school opening and closing times. "Gaelscoil de hIde is a growing primary gaelscoil with some 200 primary pupils, and severely constrained by its location. At this time it is important to support the Gaelscoil in making the job of educating its pupils easier in every way. Road safety is a very important consideration in this regard. Parents have expressed fears for the safety of children on foot and loathe the congestion built up by traffic making its way to and from the school on such a narrow road," said Cllr Healy Eames. The Councillor has also allocated funding for extra safety signage to aid the Gaelscoil while it waits for the approval of a permanent site by the Department of Education and Science. Cllr Healy Eames hopes these measures will make life easier for the whole school commnity at Gaelscoil de hIde
