ANYBODY HERE CALLED CULVEY?

Dear Sir, I am writing to ask your help. Next year we plan to visit Galway. My maiden name is "Culvey" and accor ding to some historians Rice de Culvey from Galway was a pilot for Columbus on his first trip to America. Could you please tell me is there a genealogical society or an historical society that I could write to for additional infor mation on this bit of history. How exciting it would be to find a family in Ireland with my name. Here in the U.S. we have never found anyone with the Culvey name outside our family. Any help you can give mc Would be greatly appreciated and I am thanking you now for your time and considera tion. Sincerely, Mrs. G. J. Maupin, 7580 Red Bud Rd., Roseville, Calif., 95678, U.S.A.

Dear Mr. Editor, The Bishop of Galway must be a sad person to realise that out of the hoards of friends he has in the city, a person from far away Sligo gave him the fair play that is everyman's right in his de fence against certain news paper articles. Perhaps wise Mary Gaffney the journalist responsible, was deliberately ten minutes late to cause annoyance to such an impor tant person which would leave the missing hand shake best forgotten there and then. But to accuse an ordained person of "ordering me out into the rain" on a newspaper with a big circulation, is a very grave act, which was later denied in a further issue. But what annoys me is the fact that if the denial got the same publicity the accusation got a lot more of the dirty mud would be washed away . . . but on a lowest right hand corner in the middle pages ensured that much of it stuck badly. Yours sincerely, M A R T I N J. CARR.
