New Audi A6 Avant launched

Audi has announced the arrival of the new A6 Avant estate, first versions of which are now in dealer showrooms. Derived from the new A6 saloon, the Avant shares a host of features and specifications with the saloon version on which it is based. The A6 Avant will be available initially in a choice of powerful six and eightcylinder petrol and TDI engines. Highlight models are a 2.0-litre 170bhp FSI turbo powered petrol version at the entry-level price of 49,560 (ex works); a 2.0-litre TDI 140bhp version at 51,090; and a 3.0-litre TDI, 225bhp version with quattro permanent four-wheel drive and six-speed tiptronic transmission at R69,160. Other models in the mix include a 2.7-litre TDI 180bhp version at 58,130 (available also with quattro tiptronic at 64,590), four 3.0-litre 255bhp FSI versions beginning at 64,250, including one with continuously variable multitronic automatic transmission at 67,260, another with quattro four wheel drive at 67,840, and a third with quattro and tiptronic at 70,710, plus a 4.2-litre 335bhp version with quattro and tiptronic at 93,870. A new load securing system has also been introduced consisting of two rails recessed into the floor along both sides of the load area to which luggage retaining units can be fixed to prevent items from sliding around the floor in transit. All A6 Avant versions have a luggage net and bag hooks integrated into the luggage compartment trim. A lockable side compartment can be supplied as an optional extra. Standard features include Audi's unique multi media interface control system, full climate control, and automatic light and wiper activation. Other standard features include alloy wheels (including full-size alloy spare wheel), speed-dependent servotronic steering, and a high-performance brake system with electronic brake assist and electromechanical parking brake. Adaptive air suspension is also available as an option across the range.
