TALK O' THE TOWN
COMPILED BY JULIE TIERNEY

Easy to eat healthy when it's available
Nowadays we are far more health conscious and more interested and aware of what we eat. We look to healthy dishes and good homemade wholesome food. Which is why it is great to see many restaurants/cafes in the city responding to our turnaround in food attitude. One such establishment is The Coffee Club on Upper Abbeygate St, which I had the pleasure of sampling recently. The proprietors, Gerry and Violet Kelly, have 20 years experience in the food business and were looking to try something a little different as well as offering the usual tasty lunch selection. Boy, did they come up trumps. The Coffee Club specialises in its own recipe of homemade wheat and gluten free bread, scones, open sandwiches, savoury crepes, delicious chocolate brownies, and biscuits. To cater for the large number of coeliacs in the west of Ireland there is a separate menu of wheat and gluten free foods suitable for people who are wheat intolerant. As standard the milk is low fat, and skimmed and soya milk are also available. The delicious soup is wheat/gluten/dairy/fat free and is suitable for anyone who wants additive free food. And this can be served with wheat or gluten free bread or the Coffee Club's own homemade brown bread. I decided to try the tasty `Healthier Options' topped off by a scrumptious chocolate brownie which was also wheat and gluten free. A regular menu and a low fat menu are also available. If you don't have time to sit down and enjoy your lunch then ring in your order at (091) 537996. Everything on the menu is available to go!

Win tickets for an Easter Boogaloo
This year the Easter bunny brings you a Boogaloo party on Easter Saturday in the Black Box with DJs Aran McMahon (Shake!), Cian O'Ciobhain (An Taobh Tuathail, 110th Street), Cyril Briscoe (110th Street). A night of funky, dance music - that's a better present than any chocolate egg. Tickets at 12.50 are available already from the Town Hall Theatre on (091) 569777 and Redlight Records, and the Galway Advertiser has two pairs of tickets to give away this week. To be in with a chance to win a pair, email the answer to the following question, along with your name and contact telephone number t o smcgovern@galwayadvert iser.ie.

Name one of the DJs that will play at Boogaloo?
Closing date for entries is Monday at 9am. For more details about Boogaloo see next week's The Week.
Carol Anthony (dubbed Ireland's J Lo) was joined by her actor boyfriend Jamie Belton (better known as Ross from Fair City) at her recent CD signing at Redlight Records. Belton recently left Fair City after a close encounter with a golf club and Harry Molloy. He now has set his sights on making a career for himself in Hollywood. There are rumours of interest from film companies and we could well see him join the Irish contingent of Colin Farrell, Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Gabriel Byrne, etc.

Listen to your mother
Lots and lots of entries to last week's competition featuring a photo of Cardinal Winfred Napier, the Archbishop of Durban, South Africa and NUI Galway President Iognaid O Muircheartaigh. The best entry is that which was sent in by Noreen Wilkin, 117 Costa na Mara, Oranmore who had Cardinal Napier saying "So, do ya think I'd make a good pope?" Congrats, Noreen you win a 20 book voucher for Charlie Byrne's Bookshop. Now for this week's competition. Our photo shows actor Mick Lally with Myles McDonagh and Barry Lambe of Coillte pictured deep in the woods at the launch of National Tree Week. Can you tell us what you think is being said or what caption would best describe the photo. Write it on a postcard and send it to Caption Corner, Galway Advertiser, 41-42 Eyre Square, Galway or by e-mail to dvarley@galwayadvertise r.ie. Best of luck -- DV A new reality TV show due to be filmed around Ireland this year will give free rein to mothers who are itching to take control of their adult children's lives. The brainchild of production company stop.watch, Mother Knows Best will see mothers move in with their adult children for a week, during which time they will rule the roost and lay down the law, just like they used to when junior really was a junior. The show will give mothers the chance to sort out the most troubling aspects of their children's lives, whether it is getting a daughter to discipline her unruly kids, or finding the perfect woman for a single son. The appeal of the show for mothers should be obvious -- finally getting to implement all the advice which usually falls on deaf ears -- but what of the children? According to the programme makers, adult children will have the chance to finally get their mothers off their backs. After all, if you agree to listen and it doesn't work out, she can no longer complain! The company is looking for people from Galway to take part in the series. Further information on the programme is available from Cathriona at (01) 4100845, or e-mail mother@stopwatch.ie -- US
