MARY
If you want to cut a dash this summer, step out in something white. That's the top message from Stephanie Lynch's boutique at 39 Eyre Square which is famous for its occasion wear. As evidenced as this year's Hollywood Oscar ceremony this is the colour to get you noticed this season. It's easy to wear and can be dressed up or down to take you from day to evening with maximum impact and minimal effort. For those who are inclined to resist white but want to remain pale and interesting, try silver or any of the fetching pastels dominating today's fashion. If hotter shades are more your style, embrace the purples and pinks and patterned fabrics which always look good. Stephanie carries a lot of stock from French designers, beautifully tailored numbers which will ensure you get noticed whether you are attending a race meeting, wedding or an elegant soiree. Designer Helena Sorrell has produced a collection of appealing ankle skimming two pieces and dresses, ideal for a wedding or race ball while Emanuel Ungaro's and Christian Lacroix's jersey dresses are perfect for parties or race meetings. Trouser suits by Zucchero hanker back to the glamorous 1940s and with the addition of discreet shoulder pads give the optical effect of a wasp slim waist. Linen, which continues to be a winner this summer, is mixed with viscose and lycra to enhance its appeal and lessen the risk of creasing. * All from Stephanie Lynch, Eyre Square.

Sneeze no more
If you suffer from hayfever then you know just how uncomfortable this condition can be. While others are enjoying the sun, you are battling to keep the sneezes at bay. There's also the red nose and itchy, streaming eyes to contend with, not to mention the endless enquiries from wellmeaning people who think you are coming down with something contagious. A new natural product called Nasaleze - which is available from local pharmacies - has been designed to reduce exposure to hayfever and other allergies relating to airborne pollutants. The makers claim this nasal powder spray delivers fast effective protection against airborne allergens that are inhaled through the nose. It forms a gel whenever it comes into contact with the natural moisture in the nose and creates a barrier against pollutants. "The product does not contain any pharmaceuticals or active substances and it has virtually no side effects. It is safe for everyone, including children and pregnant women."

Just fake it
skin who want some colour but burn in the sun rather than tan. "Applied carefully, Auto Bronze will give an authentic tan without the annoyance of strap lines, peeling and redness that can be caused by the sun while Visage d'Ete is a great alternative for women who don't wear foundation but want an even, radiant complexion." To achieve the best possible tan Guinot recommends exfoliating before application. Apply sparingly, taking extra care when applying over bony areas such as knees, elbows and ankles. Wash hands immediately after use and avoid contact with clothing for at least 30 minutes. Reapplication is recommended every two to three days to maintain the tan. Both products are available from the following beauty salons:Angela Silke, c/o Workshop Hair & Beauty, 10 Lower Abbeygate Street, Deirdre's Beauty Salon, 21 Sea Road, Horizon Beauty Centre, 37 Kilclooney House, Temple Jarlath Court, Tuam, Veronica Creaven Skin Care and Beauty Clinic, Mob Hill, Main St, Loughrea.

Hot lips
Lancome's Juicy Tubes collection are the hottest things for lips this season. Since their launch in 2000, they have become an international beauty blockbuster with waiting lists and an ever increasing celebrity fan base snapping these delicious lip colours up in every available shade and flavour. Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue, Victoria Beckham and Gwyneth Paltrow are all fans Elizabeth Jagger loves the glossy variety and her favourite shade is raisin. So, if you want to get star struck and display the best pout around check out the New Juicy Crayon (14) - it creates candy kisses with a stroke of a pencil and comes in seven sweet colours and flavours, the Juicy Rouge Magic Shine Edition (19.50) - it features sparkling crazy colours and glamorous shine or the New Juicy Tubes Pop (16.50) - the juicy phenomena continues with six new irrestible glossy tubes. There's scented nail gloss (14) this is deliciously flavoured with scent of fresh fruit and candy. Local Lancome stockists include Brown Thomas, Matt O'Flaherty's, Feeley's of Tuam and Flanagan's of Ballinasloe. Fancy looking sunkissed as you hit the beach, the shops or the party scene? Then reach for your fake tan, a girl's best friend this season. Forget burning yourself to a cinder on a sun soaked holiday and risking your health into the bargain. There are much easier ways to achieve that much coveted golden glow. Guinot, the French skincare company, has just launched two new self-tan products - Visage d'Ete (34.25 for 50ml tube) and Auto Bronze (29.25 for 150ml tube). The first product is a selftan for the face, instantly brightening it and leaving a golden shimmer. A longlasting tan develops after just an hour. Auto Bronze promises to give the skin a natural all-over colour in just two hours. The gel cream is slightly tinted for easy application and has natural copper highlights for a realistic colour. The self-tan contains aloe-vera to heal and moisturise. The makers say both products are ideal for people with extremely fair
