Galway-featured Guinness ad goes on air next week
BY SINEAD MCGOVERN Snow will be seen on the Galway docks next week - but probably only in the new Guinness ad, which goes on air next Thursday. The 60 second ad features Christmas-like scenes from the Galway docks, St Patrick Street in Cork, and Belfast city centre, as well as a number of wintery scenes from around rural Ireland. Shooting for this, the first Guinness ad to feature Galway, took place at the end of October. The filming attracted a lot of attention from curious onlookers, and many people were amazed to see snow-covered quays. Fake snow was used to create a real Christmas feeling, and the road around the docks was closed to accommodate the shoot The finishing touches are still being made to the ad this week, and the storyline is being kept under wraps for the moment - but it is known that a specially commissioned musical piece will provide the backdrop.
