How to get Win tickets a head in the to Glasgow locals
One of the ways to get your name known in an election is to make sure your head is on a poster, on leaflets, in the papers, and right in front of people when you knock on their door. However it seems that Dep Padraic McCormack has a secret formula to bypass all this hassle, and he should know, he's fought enough elections. At Monday's city council meeting, Ald Catherine Connolly asked him if he had any advice for her in her upcoming canvass of the South Ward? "Keep your head down," was Dep McCormack's reply. - KA

Its not everyday I am invited to lunch in Glasgow, so when Galway Airport as me to join them for a midday meal in one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan destinations in Europe on Monday, I jumped at the opportunity. The jaunt was a treat to launch the new direct flight from Galway Airport to Glasgow with British Airways commencing on May 2. The service is going to be a huge boost to Celtic footie fans in the West of Ireland who can reach Park Head in about an hour and a half. The flight is only an hour and 10 minutes and the stadium is only about 10 -15 minutes from the airport. Glasgow is also known as the best shopping destination in the United Kingdom, outside London. Unfortunately we didn't stay long enough to test that one out. But you can along with a friend, as Galway Airport is kindly giving one Talk o' the Town reader the opportunity to win two return tickets from Galway to Glasgow. To be in with a chance simply answer the following question: What airline is operating the direct Galway/Glasgow air service? Send your answer along with your name, address, and contact telephone number to Glasgow competition, Galway Advertiser, 41/42 Eyre Square, Galway. Closing date for completed entry forms, Monday, April 26. Reservations can be made with your local travel agent, at www.ba.com or by phoning 1800 491 492.

Win a fantastic 2,000 mother of the bride makeover
Lots of entries (most of them rude) for our competition last week, (see pic below) but the winning one was that sent in by John Dunne, Aisling, Glengowla West, Oughterard who said Enda Kenny was saying "...and that was before the Viagra." Others which nearly made it included "Deasy's spliff was this big"; "I'm about this far from being Taoiseach," and "You can trust me this far." For his effort, John Dunne wins a 20 book token for Charlie Byrne's Bookshop. This week, (see pic above) can you tell us what David and Victoria Beckham were whispering to each other as they made their way into a party in London on Monday night. Entries to Caption Corner, Galway Advertiser, Eyre Square, Galway or by email to
