Carnmore Cross works taking too long, Cuddy claims
BY UNA SINNOTT Cllr Jim Cuddy has called on the Galway County Council to allow major road repairs in the county to be undertaken by private contractors in future. The Oranmore PD councillor made the call this week after expressing frustration at the length of time spent on road works at Carnmore Cross. Cllr Cuddy claimed the road works were taking a "disgraceful" amount of time to complete, and he has asked the local authority to reveal the total cost of the works. "Work at Carnmore Cross started last October and there was a realistic expectation that it would have been completed by Christmas," he said. "It is totally unacceptable that a project of this size should take so long." He said traffic lights have yet to be erected at the junction despite being told they would be in place by the end of April. "We are now in the middle of May and the contractors have only in the last few days visited the area," he added.
