Novena starts on Monday
Heavy traffic is expected in the city next week when up to 15,000 visitors a day will attend the Solemn Novena. This year's Novena starts on Monday February 9 and continues through to Tuesday February 17. There are seven sessions of the Novena each day beginning at 7.45am, the final session is at 10pm. That final session will be a prayerful Taize like celebration. Fr Michael Cusack who has proved a popular preacher and lead-singer at past novenas returns this year. Joining Fr Cusack will be Fr Gerry O'Connor, Fr Peter Burns, Superior of Clonard Monastery, Belfast, and Fr Gerry Moloney, the editor of the religious magazine Reality.

Talk on Kashmir tomorrow
BY KERNAN ANDREWS A public meeting on the disputed province of Kashmir, between Pakistan and India, will be held in the Clinical Science Institute building in UCHG, on the Shantalla Road, on Friday at 7pm. Dr Ayyub Thakur and Abdul Kadir of the World Kashmir Freedom Movement will speak on Kashmir: The Forgotten Occupation. Both speakers are from Kashmir and a short film will be screened too. On Saturday February 14, there will be a food fair to raise funds for Kashmir from 12 noon to 5pm in the NUIG Sports Hall.
