MONKEY BUSXIfESS Indoor Action Playcentre For Kids OPEN FRIDAY J U N E 6th

N o playing pitches for Doughiska
BY KERNAN ANDREWS THREE PLAYING pitches for Doughiska have been refused planning permission as they would interfere with a proposed quality bus corridor. Mclncrney Construction Ltd. Galway. applied to the Galway City Council for permission for three natural grass pitches, entrance, access, parking area. ancillary site works, and for outline permission for dressing rooms, equipment stores, and associated services at Doughiska. However the council refused permission as the pitches would interfere with plans for a bus route in the area. The Doughiska Local Area Plan includes an objective to provide a QBC from future development lands to the east of the city (known as the Ardaun corridor) to the city centre. The indicative route for this QBC traverses the southern section of the site, and according to the council "it is clear from the plans submitted that a reservation for the QBC has not been accommodated in the proposed development". The council feels the development would "prejudice the implementation" of the QBC and would be contrary to the proper planning and development of the area.
