Cool looks f o r soap's hottest stars
LINEN WAS one of the key looks at the Faith, Soap and Charity II fash ion extravaganza held at the the Radisson SAS Hotel at the weekend. The event, which fea tured more than 30 actors and actresses from top Irish soaps Ros na Run and Fair City, was in aid of the RNLI Galway. The star-studded show is expected to raise thousands of euro for this worthy cause. Cast members from both soaps sashayed down the catwalk, demonstrating the exciting new styles from the spring/summer collections. The look is cool and relaxed but is given a fiery twist with the addition of primary colours which are big news this season. Beautifully tailored cot ton and linen trouser suits are a must if you want to look good. These have taken centre stage this spring, elbowing out the dress and elegant separates as the choice of the best dressed. Suits tend to be structured but feminine and are easy to dress up or down. Pinstripes appear fre quently this season adding a dramatic edge to well cut trousers. The stripes are slim and flattering. Wide legged pants predominate, most are worn at hip level. The richness of colour electrifies even the simplest looks. Burnt oranges, strong reds, shocking pinks and fuschias all make strong statements while the more subtle turquoises, ivory, camel, aqua and stone tell a softer story. Micro minis are back with a bang and look great on women with legs that go on forever. For very elegant occasions, there are some really sophisticated looks. Some figure-hugging num bers in delicious shades from Myriam O ' R e i l l y ' s boutique were a big hit as was her classic little black dress. Her head pieces were stunning and added an important finishing touch to the latest looks. Many of the dresses had a flirty feel and appeared in the softest fabrics. These were often mixed to create maximum effect. Men looked to Irish linen too to create an impact on the ramp. Light-weight tai lored suits and dressy sepa rates which are easy to mix and match were important trend setters from Carpenter's Menswear. Colours included camel, beige, stone and green. The blazer has made a huge comeback and as in the past will take the wearer from day to evening with mini mum fuss and maximum panache. Bootleg j e a n s , lots of linen, and army styles were some of the strongest state ments from Mexx. Combats, pinstriped denims and stripey shirts made their presence felt also.
