Roesy: Cycling to a Ruby Monday in Roisin Dubh venue near you!!!!!!!
BIRR NATIVE Roesy is currently undertaking a bicycle tour of Ireland to promote his album Sketch The Day, Paint The Night, to raise funds for ISPCC and Childline. The tour wraps up in Galway's Roisin Dubh on Tuesday August 27. Tower Records have asked for the album in the UK. So. we'll see what happens." He names 'Life Is More Perfect Than Gold', as his favourite track on the album. Sketch the Day, Paint the Night was released on February 27 in Dublin's Project Arts Centre and received rave reviews. "Genuinely loveable. Good for your health blanket that you should wrap yourself up in this winter," is how Hotpress described it. The album was produced by Bernard Butler (ex-Suede, and currently of chart-topping comeback specialists McCalmont and Butler) and recorded in Edwyn Collins' (of 'Girl like You' fame) studio in London. Among those who made a contribution to the album was fellow Offaly native Mundy. "I love Mundy. both as an artist and a friend," enthuses Roesy. "It was great having Mundy around. He's very rock'n'roll." He is lavish in his praise of Mundy's 24 Star Hotel. Both artists have recently featured on Jon Richards/Galway Bay FM albums Undercurrents and InunDations. So, what is Roesy's opinion of those recordings? "It's a brilliant idea. Jon Richards' has got great energy for original music. He was very supportive of this tour. I was talking to him on the phone before I began this project. He Speaking about the project Roesy said: "I takes time out to play artists he likes, and wanted a bit of an adventure." There's even talk that The Ruby Sessions are an acoustic club held weekly in an intimate setting. They have given outlets to such artists as Paddy Casey, Mundy, Gemma Hayes, Damien Rice and Liam O'Maoinlai of The Hothouse Rowers to name but a few. Rodrigo y Gabriela, Suzanne Rhatigan, Keith Moss, and Neo Super Vital will represent the sessions started by Niall Muckian and Conor Donovan three years ago. Each session consists of four excellent acts playing an original acoustic set for 20 minutes. THE RUBY Sessions from Doyle's of College Street, Dublin, are currently on a tour of Ireland. They will roll into Galway's Roisin Dubh on Monday August 26.

Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela started back in 1994. They began learning some popular songs for live performances, classics like 'Tears in H e a v e n ' , and Metallica's ' O r i o ' . They swapped sunny Mexico for drizzly Ireland and settled in Dublin. They have headlined Vicar Street on a number of occasions and earlier this year wowed the crowds in The TV Tent at Witnness. Their first original recording was the Latin flavoured Ritmo y Sangre, and Amuleto followed soon after. They have spent time travelling around Europe from their Irish base - in particular the Latin countries. Their latest CD is Foe, (now don't be naughty!) which is the Catalan word for fire. The

CD is inspired by the melting pot of European cultures including their adopted Celtic heartland Ireland. Suzanne Rhatigan is a native Dubliner who started her artistic life as a backing singer to Kylie Minogue, Rick Astley, Jason Donovan, and Bananarama during their Stock, Aitken and Waterman-inspired years. She soon flew the nest of SAW and became a vocalist of some note contributing to Roger Waters' album Radio Kaos. Further contributions were included in albums by Weezer and Beverly Craven. She also turned her hand to producing albums by bands Hefner and Electroscope. She has produced two albums of her own called To Hell With Love, and Late Developer. As if she w a s n ' t busy enough she has also taken up acting from time to time - including a stint on BBC comedy Red Dwarf. She has also appeared on Later with Jools Holland. A truly outstanding talent with an impressive track record. Neo Super Vital is the brain child of Tim O'Donovan. He sings songs added with synths and bass. "If Lou Reed had been born a couple of decades later he might have styled himself t h u s , " is how Hotpress described this project. The debut EP Use What You Got, is expected soon. Among the tracks to look out for are 'Rachel', and 'Song X'. Keith Moss has built up a significant fan base in Dublin and Cork, now he hopes Galway will be the next to succumb to his charms. Already at the stage of completing his third EP, he was been a mainstay of IMRO Showcases the last two years. Comparisons have been made with Neil Hannon. The Irish Times reported "an unlikely melange of Nick Drake and Monty Python". A man always likely to 'look on the bright side of life", and rarely to remain 'idle'!
