Amazing human cannonball to shoot 100ft in visiting foreign circus
BY J U L I E TIERNEY CIRCUS VEGAS, the show the whole of Ireland is talking about, will open on the Headford Road, across from Dunnes Stores, from April 12 to 21. This is the second time this foreign circus has visited Galway and once again performers from around the globe will feature in its amazing two hour adventure. Circus Vegas has everything from mighty African elephants. dancing horses, acrobats, clowns, aerial acts, to the main feature, the Amazing Human Cannonball. Be prepared to hold your breath as Domingo 'Master Blaster' the daring and crazy human cannonball is shot as a speed of 60mph and a distance of 100 feet at a constant risk to his life. This act, the only one of its kind in Ireland was once described as "nearly as safe as shaving with a chainsaw!" The best of Africa will astound you with their distinctive African rhythm and agility as they perform the limbo, acrobatics, and balancing acts that are so amazing that they have made many appearances on television. Miss Beatrix Spindler and her stunning and graceful Audalusian stallions are sure to win your hearts as the beautiful creatures perform their magic in the circus ring, while 21-yearold Valentino from Italy will amaze everybody as he makes juggling look easy with his enthralling Latino style. Valentino is the only juggler in Europe who can juggle five rings in one hand. If adorable is what you want. Miss Dayna and her adorable Bichon dogs are for you. These beautiful and intelligent little dogs have been stealing the hearts of audiences all over Ireland. Miss Peggy will perform her aeriel silk act from high above the ring to the delight of all, while Herr Martino Scholl will display his mastery of balance by balancing on six chairs, one on top of the other. The circus is open Monday-Thursday at 7.30pm only; Friday at 5pm and 7.30pm; Saturday at 2pm and 5pm, and on Sunday at 2pm and 5pm. Tickets on opening night and on Friday April 19 cost 7. THE GALWAY Society f Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is holding fundraising sale of work on Sunday April 7 from 12 noon to 4pm in Jameson's Hotel, Salthill. The sale of work will feature raffle draws, home-baking, sale of brie a brae, books and novelties. All money raised will go towards essential building work taking place at the GSPCA animal sanctuary in Killimor Co Galway. Children will be (admitted free, adults 1.50 to include a door raffle prize.
