BY J U L I E T I E R N E Y T H E FIVE week old strike at Mangans Wholesale Galway involving 10 workers has been resolved follow! marathon talks between the company and union representatives on Thursday.

A representative from Mandate Trade Union for the workers and an IBEC representative for the cash and carry met with the Labour Relations Commission for nearly 10 hours in an effort to hammer out a resolution on low pay which was at the centre of this dispute. The LRC conciliation conference ended at 9.45pm when the chairman, senior industrial relations officer Damien Cannon, suggested a proposal that both the company and the union could recommend for acceptance. John Carty, Mandate divisional organiser said members accepted the proposals as recommended by their negotiators at a specially convened general meeting of the union membership on Friday, and full and immediate resumption of

normal working has taken place. The terms of the settlement include pay increases ol per cent and agreed terms on back pay. The union agre would not serve any further claims until the end ol national agreement, the PPF, which is due to expire ii company on December 31. Carty said he was delighted that the issue has I resolved to everyone's satisfaction and wishes to members of the public for their support on the pick while general manager of Mangans Wholesale Lance ( thanked customers for their patience and forbearance di the dispute.
