THE RENOVATION of Pearse Stadium will go to extra time following a decision by thK Galway City Council to extend planning permission to November 25 2002. In 1994, the Galway County Board of the GAA applied to the city council for permission to construct a new stand, revised pitch layout, new terracing, toilets, dressing room facilities and revised entrances and exits along southern and eastern perimeter boundary walls. According to a planning report by Peter Nelson, executive planner, the reason work is not fully complete is due to "funding issues and contractual problems". Green TDs in Galway this Saturday
THE GREEN Party's two TDs will be in Galway this Saturday to highlight transportation and environmental issues and meet the people. Party leader Dep Trevor Seargent and John Gormally along with the Green's Galway West candidate Niall 6 Brolchain will be at the railway station at 10.30am to launch its rail policy and hand out leaflets on transportation. They will also be in the Galway Shopping Centre from 11.15am. The Green Party is also holding its National Council Meeting in Jury's Hotel on Saturday.
