O N J A N U A R Y 8, G a l w a y m a n R i c h a r d D o n o v a n w i l l b e a m o n g a n elite g r o u p o f athletes to e m b a r k o n a j o u r n e y spanning seven continents.

This is a challenge that has never before been attempted. Within one year, he will attempt some of the most gruelling and trying ultramaraihon races on earth, one on each continent. Richard, w h o is attempting to become the first person ever to run seven extreme ultramarathons on seven continents in one year will run an additional 1,000km of racing along the Polar Plateau in the process. H i s races not o n l y cover vast distances of up to 150 miles, but they will take place in a variety of extreme climatic conditions and circumstances from the scorching heat of the Sahara Desert ID the mind-numbing cokl of the South Pole; from the altitude heights of the A n d e s and Himalayan mountains to the depths of Death Valley; and from sand dunes and baking roads to snow and ice. Richard is a member of Galway Ryan Leisure Club and is sponsored by Accenture. Throughout the year he is hoping to raise funds for GOAL and the Galway Society for Prevention of
