GALWAY will celebrate its world-renowned landscapes and scenery with the arrival of the Irish Geological Week and with a number of events including an educational trip into the heart of Connemara.
This annual event, which runs from May 1 to May which will take place on Saturday May 1 from 9am 8, is organised by the Irish Geological Association to to 5pm. A group will travel into the depths of the highlight aspects of geology in Ireland and its world famous region to see the changes which have taken place over the ages. Connemara's history contribution to the landscapes around us. Further information on this trip, which takes place on Friday May 7, can be optained from Martin Feely on 524411 ext 2129. Finally, a field trip on Monday May 3 will take the group into the Burren for a day spent examining the limestone and cave formations which have developed over the centuries. The trip will also i highlight the danger of damage to the area; the limestone pavement which has made the Burren so famous is only one metre deep in places and easily destroyed. For this trip sturdy footwear is recommended as the rocks can be slippery when wel. The field trip will depart from the car park to the right of Doolin Quay in Clare at 2pm.

THE GALWAY Centre for the Unemployed is now offering advice, support, and representation for anyone thinking of making an appeal against a social welfare/health board decision.
