New Directors for Ireland-West
Mr. Joseph Owens, Atlanta Hotel, Dominick St., Galway, was elected Chairman of the Ireland/West Regional Tourism Organisation Ltd. at its 9th Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 14th December, at Jury's Hotel, Westport. A former Mayor of Galway, Mr. Owens is Secretary of the Co. Galway Branch Irish Hotels Federation. He is Secretary of the Skal Club of Galway and was its founder President. Mr. Owens was a well known sportsman in his youth, having been capped for Ireland in soccer and for Conn acht in rugby. The other Directors elected were : Mrs. Mary Bennett, Capri Guesthouse, Oakiands, Salthill, Galway. Mr. James Lydon, "The Croft," Taylor's Hill, ay Councillor Padraic Joyce, Main St., Clifden, Co. Galway. Mr. Joseph Rafferty, Roundstone, Co. Galway. Councillor Michael Browne, James' St., Westpo't, Co. Mayo. Mr. Michael Kennedy, Bridge St., Westport, Co. Mayo. Mr. John Walkin, Tone St., Ballina, Co. Mayo. Mr. Peter Deavy, Ballina Road, Belmullet, Co. Mayo Mr. Colm O'Reilly, Curragh, Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
