Missing person
GARDA AT Mill Street are seeking information about the whereabouts of a missing teenager. Fifteen year-old Mary Cleary of Sliabh Rua, Ballybane has been missing from home since Monday. Gardai say her parents are very anxious to contact her and they say they believe she may be with some of her friends. She is described as being 5' 6" tall with long brown curly hair. When she left home she was wearing big looped earrings, a black leather jacket, blue jeans and black shoes. Anybody with information is asked to contact the Gardai at Mill St at (091) 563 161.

Pulitzer prizewinner visits Galway
GALWAY entertained a Pulitzer Prizewinner yes terday when Irish author F r a n k M c C o u r t visited E a s o n ' s and Kenny's bookshops, meeting fans and signing copies of his award-winning book Literature, in addition to Angela's Ashes. The book is McCourt's taking the Pulitzer Prize. Published last autumn, first and, amazingly for a first publication, went on to McCourt assumed it would win the LA Times' Award, have faded into relative the National Book Award obscurity by Christmas. Loughrea burglary
BURGLARS MADE off with a steel safe in a raid on a premises near Loughrea earlier this week. The Gardai at Loughrea are investigating the robbery which took place on Monday night. A steel safe con taining a small amount of cash was stolen and later found in a field near Bullaun, about three miles away. The incident took place between 3.00am and 4.00am on Tuesday morning. Two males were seen running from the scene towards Mount Carmel Crescent and getting into a dark coloured Opel Vectra. Gardai say they would like to hear from anybody who m ay have seen the men on the morning in question or who noticed the Opel Vectra car earlier that night around the Loughrea area. Ifefajte? A SUBSTANTIAL quantity of Claddagh rings were stolen from William St earlier this week, say Gardai at Mill Street The rings were in plastic bags and both gold and silver rings were taken in the raid. Gardai are warning that they may be offered for sale to other dealers or privately on an individual basis and warn people to be wary of Claddagh rings being offered to them at 'knock down' rates. WITH THE tourist season nominally in full swing, Gardai are warning there has been an increase in traffic on city streets and increasing demand for parking space. The Gardai are requesting the public to cooperate with them in their efforts to ensure the free flow of traffic through and around the city. "There will be a strict enforcement of the parking by laws for the remainder of the summer and in coopera tion with Galway Corporation illegally parked vehicles will be towed away at the owner's expense," say Gardai at Mill Street "Motorists are reminded not to park along double yel low lines or at single yellow lines during prohibited hours or in any way that would impede the free flow of j traffic," they continue. And Gardai have issued a special plea that private bus operators park their buses in designated areas only.

Missing vehicles
