A "casual, conser vative dresser" is how Galway's "first lady", Eilish Mc Cor mack describes herself. Wife of Padraic, the Fine Gael deputy and newly elected Mayor of Galway, Eilish is a nurse and the mother of four, two boys and two girls, ranging in ages from 14-19. The fami ly live in Renmore Park. Eilish's style is sim ple and understated, she says. Tall and slim with a model's figure, she has a reputation for understated elegance. When she is relax ing, she likes to wear jeans, jumpers and flat shoes. She opts for both flowing dresses and fit ted suits for formal wear. "She always looks suitably dressed for every occasion. She has given a tremendous boost to Irish fashion.''

The Creativity Summer School, Mercy School Hall, Newtownsmyth, has a limited number of places available on its remaining weekly courses commenc ing on Monday 27th July (Race Week) and Monday 8th August. The course runs from 10 am. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and offers a wide range of activities to children aged between 6-13 years who are interested in the Arts. These activities in clude: Mask Making, Art, Script Writing, Jewellery and Drama. The highlight of the week is the Parent's Afternoon when parents can see a display of their children's work, a play produced and performed by the children themselves and a presenta tion of the special Creativiity Summer School Certificates. An extra feature, this year, is the provision of a daily rate during Race Week. So, if you fancy a day at the Races but don't know how to occupy the kids, why not phone 63251 and book them a place on the course.
