The co-author of the forthcoming book telling the story of Annie Murphy's relationship with Bishop Eamonn Casey, says he will not engage in controversy with people who criticise the book without having read even a chapter of it.

Cllr. Cunningham, who stressed that he was speak ing as an individual and a member of the Galway diocese accused Annie Mur phy of writing the book to make money. " A s far as I am concern ed I heard it all last year. We have read about it and wat ched it on TV. Writing this book is going too f a r , " he claimed. Cllr. Cunningham who has not read the book, said he was a great admirer of Dr. Casey: " H e was an am City Councillor, Tom Cox. "Annie Murphy has a story to tell, and she is en titled to if she wants to. I won't be buying the book, or reading it, but if she wants to write it, that is her choice. "Nothing will take away from Dr. Casey's work in Galway, and I won't sit on judgement on the m a n . " The co- author of the book, Mr Peter de Rosa has been forbidden by the publishers to talk about the book until its publication in April.

People in the West were urged this week to lobby local politicians in a bid to establish a Cardiac Surgery Unit at Universi ty College Hospital.
