TEE TIME Galway Golf Club. Nominations, so far, re ceived for election as officers of the Club at the A.G.M. at the end of February are: Captain: M. McCloskey. Vice-Captain: P. Hayes. President: P. O Beirn. Vice-President: W. Looney. P. J. Carroll & Co. Ltd., are sponsoring a film show in the clubhouse on Thursday even ing, February 8th. Films to be shown are the "Piccadilly World Match Play, 1970," and "Gary Player on Golf." Make a note in your diary for what should be a very inter esting evening. Galway Golf Club are playing host to Co. Sligo club (Rosses Point) on the 5 / 6 March next in a friendly match between the two clubs. Co. Sligo are sending their 1971 Irish Junior Cup win ning team as well as their Senior Cup team to play a selection from the home club in foursomes and singles. One member of that win ning Junior Cup team was Declan Howley, who is now Captain of the Co. Sligo club. It was as a result of a chat between Galway Captain, Tom Ford and Declan that this friendly was arranged. Tom, I know, is a great be liever in better communica tion between clubs especially with regard to match practice for provincial matches and in support for Scratch Cups and Open Weeks. With Declan Howley of the same mind, relations between the clubs will undoubtedly 'bloom.' It will be interesting, in deed, to see how our 'senior' players such as Sean Hosty, Tom O'Connor, Michael Lynch, Joe Corless, etc., will do against the 'seasoned' Sligo team--Sean Flanagan, Frankie Doherty, Dermot Gillen and young Soden. Galway's Junior Cup pros pects for this year should be noticeable after the visit of the Sligo team. All in all, this is a friendly match, which should do a world of good for both clubs both in the golf sense and the relations between the clubs.

PROJECT WINNERS These two young girls, Brid Ni Chinn6ide and Sile Ni Chaoimh both pupils of Scoil Fhursa, recently were winners in the Galway Co. Library Project Competition. Brid won first place for her work--all through Irish, called 'Flowers and Plants.' Sile was a runner-up for her project on 'Weather.' Both girls received prizes from Mr. Michael Kitt, Parli amentary Secretary to the Minister for the Gaeltacht.
