Festival time continues in Galway this weekend with the Busking Festival which begins on Saturday at 1 p.m.. The Busking Festival, now in its seventh year, has already attracted more than 40 entries in the four different categories of traditional/folk, blues, specialized acts and jazz. Most are from Ireland and England but there are also some Europeans. On Saturday morning contestants can register in a tent in Eyre Square. There wfll be various pitches round town, in the Square, in Shop St., and in Quay St. Speciality acts will be concentrated in the Square and will inlcude juggling and miming. Traditional and folk will be in Quay St, and the Galway Traditional Or chestra will play there at lunch time. Each catetory will have a first and se cond prize winner, and the judges will be local D.J., Dave Donovam, Junior Chamber's Mary Comer and Toni Ryder, and Guinness' Michael Whelan. A group of face painters from Macnas will be located hi Shop St to entertain children. At 5 p.m. the finalists will be chosen, and on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. the finals will be held in Eyre Square, and presentations will be made to the winners.
