The wedding took place last Saturday between Miss Maeve Horgan of Castleknock, Dublin, and Mr. Martin Brennan, one of Galway's best known young business men. The couple met the summer before last while Maeve was in Salthill on holidays. They were married in Castleknock and are on their honeymoon in the Canary Islands. SHOCK REACTION TO LYNCH WINDOW HOAX The "Galway Advertiser" has had considerable reaction to its front page story last week which explained Rev. Dr. Mitchell's lecture on the famous Lynch Window monument in Lombard St. In the course of his recent lecture Dr. Mitchell showed that there was no historical proof whatsoever to substan tiate the claim that the Lynch Window has any connection with Mayor Lynch Fitz Stephen's hanging his son or indeed if he ever did so. " I was shocked to read it," said a member of the Select Vestry St. Nicholas' Collegiate Church, who are responsible for the upkeep of its buildings and who have been advocating for over eight years to have the Lynch monument re built. "But our function is not to prove or disprove its authenticity but to preserve a genuine antique of old Gal way. We will continue our campaign. Anyway I find it difficult to believe, I"ll have to see Dr. Mitchell myself." One gentleman came into our office furious: "No man, I don't care what their qualific ation is, will tell me that that monument is a fake!" Equally annoyed were two local residents who felt they had to protest at the "very unfair article. Does this mean now it can be pulled down like the rest of old Galway that young people to-day have no time for or care one damn!" GALWAY F A R E S W E L L IN LITERARY CONTEST Comhar, the Irish language monthly, I S 3 0 years old this month and to celebrate the occasion a special edition, 1 devoted to the problems of c J U C A T I O N . has been published In the essay and short story competitions which Comhar organised, with financial assistance from Guinness Group Sales (Ireland) Ltd., three of the four awards went to people with Galway con nections. GREAT" CYCLE TREK On Sunday, 2 8 T H May, the ever energetic people of Renmore will be cycling to Clarenbridge and back to help their School/Church Fund Raising Campaign. Many parishioners who haven't sat on a bike for years are to be seen busily repairing punctures and oiling their once indespensible "War Horses" and limbering up those out of tone muscles for the great day which promises a lot of fun and not too many aches and pains. The cyclist with the highest sponsorship will win a new Raleigh bicycle and the runner-up a Royal Tara set of china. The demand for sponsor ship cards has been so great that a second printing is necessary and these cards will be available at the Renmore Military Church on Sunday next. Bicycles for the day can be hired from Seamus McFadden at the Renmore Service Station.

GALWEGIAN FOOTBALL CLUB Galwegians hold their Annual General Meeting on Friday night, 1 9 5 ' 7 2 , at Glenina, at 8 p.m. Every aspect of the Club's life over the past year will be reviewed -- a year in which history was made, if you like. The first Squash Courts in Galway were opened in Glenina in February and are now very much a part of the scene where male and female members can keep their figures in trim by regular, healthy exercise. The second playing field has been completed and came into use over the year. On the playing field, too,
