TALK O' THE TOWN
COMPILED BY JULIE TIERNEY

Escape, unwind, relax and recharge at The Square
For a relaxing escape -- whether it be an afternoon, day, or weekend -- check out the Great Southern Hotel, Eyre Square. This first class 4* hotel is made even more special by the presence of The Square Spa & Health Club on Level 5. This magnificent rooftop leisure centre has been specifically designed to offer a sanctuary of peace away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Its facilities include a roof-top Canadian hot tub, Jacuzzi, hydrotherapy baths, sauna, steam room, monsoon shower, treatment rooms and a fitness suite. I jumped at an invite for an afternoon of extreme pampering in The Square last week which left me thoroughly relaxed and got me thinking... I should definitely do this more often! I especially loved the full body hot stone massage. Using warmed stones and a variety of harmonious massage techniques and oil, expert therapist Helen Connolly relaxed my body at the deepest level. The hydrotherapy bath (an energising water treatment consisting of multi-jets and a computerised massage bath working up the legs, arms, back, and abdomen using different types of oils for relieving muscle aches and pains) was a real delight and excellent stress buster. I was also treated to a Dermalogica facial which I was extremely impressed with. Aside from the facial itself Helen offered invaluable personal tips on my skin and diet. Dr Hauschka and GM Collin facials are also available. A number of wedding/pampering packages are available at The Square Spa & Health Club which is open seven days a week and membership of the health centre is not necessary to avail of them. Remember you don't have to be a resident either! Before all my pampering Clare Gohery introduced me to the fitness suite and gave me a few pointers on how to maintain a productive fitness regime. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and she is particularly keen to help people achieve their fitness goals. A little encouragement goes a long way and Clare is a great confidence booster. Anyone who visits The Square Spa & Health Club is in for a real treat -- I'm already looking forward to my next visit. So what are you waiting for? Telephone (091) 564041 to make your appointment.

Summer menu in The Living Room
The Living Room Bar & Restaurant launched its new summer menu on Monday. To celebrate the new menu there were three days of food tasting and 10 per cent off all food at the restaurant. According to general manager Geraldine Mc Cormack: "Lots of people came in to sample different items from our new menu --it was a great success."
