Third daily flight from Knock to London announced
Luton has now been added to Stansted and Gatwick to bring to three the daily flights from Knock International Airport to London. The new service, which will commence on October 30, is expected to bring in an additional 100,000 passengers to Knock every year. This means that in 2005, the airport will exceed its target growth of more than half a million passengers and it will have increased the number of destinations it serves to 30 - up from six in 2001. Welcoming the new route Liam Scollan, managing director of Knock International Airport, said Ryanair's consistent services through Knock over the years has ensured its survival. He said that the pilgrimage destinations. Some years ago there was a petition organised by the people of Luton to have a flight to Knock which the airport's management has used to boost its negotiations with airlines to put the route in place. "Luton is one of the main areas where this region's people emigrated to in the 60s and 70s and we are delighted that Ryanair will now operate the route," said Mr Scollan. "It gives us great satisfaction that together we now make the journey home more convenient, and more frequent, for the 50,000 inbound visitors who will benefit from this service in the next year. Similarly it increases the choices to travel for our people which mean more choices for this region."

The Bundoran Ocean Fest
Next weekend why not head to the north west to take part in the Bundoran Ocean Fest - a celebration of the sea in one of the top surf spots in Ireland. Taking place from Thursday September 29 to Sunday October 2, the festival's line-up includes free surfing and kite surfing lessons, surf movies, and a wide range of nightly entertainment. One of Ireland's main seaside resorts, Bundoran has a fine situation on the southern shore of Donegal Bay, with the Sligo-Leitrim mountains behind it to the south and the hills of Donegal across the bay to the north. The strand, a fine sandy beach fronting the promenade, has at either end a range of cliffs carved by the waves into fantastic shapes. The touristy town is world renowned for its surfing beaches and has been the location for the European and Quicksilver Surfing Championships. So where better to go `celebrate the sea? There is plenty lined up on the festival programme including free surf lessons and climbing and abseiling from the Donegal Adventure Centre, and kite surfing lessons from the Bundoran Surf Company.
