Goodbye Vbrk Pie
Tony Barry, star of the New Zealand a d v e n t u r e comedy "Goodbye Pork Pie" made a whistle stop in Galway during th week to promote his new movie which has just hit the Galway cinema sceens. And Barry who can trace his forefathers to counties Tipperary and Clare this week called on Ireland's young aspiring film makers to tap local resources with a view to setting up a thriving film industry.

Easy Rider meets the Keystone Cops. It tells the story of two young men who journey from Northland to Invercargill pursued by police most of the way in a very small yellow car. Their escapades grow to front page proportions and the reputation of the police hangs on their capture. En route and hard up the travellers sell off pieces of the car to finance their journey. The final climaxes as they hurdle towards their final appointment with the law. Tony Barry, the Australian who plays laid back John in the film, the oldest and arguably the smartest of the Blondini gang, entered show business straight off the street. In the past 10 years this slim and charming six footer has made 14 trips to New Zealand for roles in movies and T V . Although his busy professional life leaves him little time to relax and take it easy Tony claims he spends his spare time chasing work, jazz, films and bird watching. The Irish connection is very obvious in the film and the credits at the end of it read like an Irish telephone directory. Mary O'Connor.
