Major extensions and alterations sought for Radisson and Fairgreen hotels
BY KERNAN ANDREWS Planning permission is being sought from the Galway City Council for major extensions and alterations to the Radisson and Fairgreen hotels. Shorelark Ltd, Dublin 7, has applied for permission to the Galway City Council for developments at a site to the south of Ard Patrick, Lough Atalia road, comprising the Radisson SAS Hotel and the Fairgreen Hotel. Permission is sought for the construction of a 135sq m extension to the rear of the Fairgreen Hotel to provide a larger breakfast area, staff changing rooms and dining facilities, storage areas, service corridor, and extension to the office area. The roof of the proposed extension will be decked and landscaped with a rooflight over the extended breakfast area. Permission is also sought for the following: Alterations to the layout and a change of use of three existing retail units to provide a restaurant of 58sq m and a retail unit of 27sq m; the construction of an additional (fourth) floor to the Fairgreen Hotel, comprising 15 new additional hotel bedrooms and store with a total gross floor area of 542sq m; the provision of a basement to the Fairgreen Hotel (680sq m) to operate as an extension to the existing Wellness Centre in the Radisson SAS Hotel including a juice bar and the provision of a link between the two hotels and the provision of meeting rooms, business suite, toilets, and store, and a new canopy on front elevation.
