Gardai identify man found dead in Oranmore
BY UNA SINNOTT THE GARDA is c o n t i n u i n g to i n v e s t i g a t e the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was found in a stream in Oranmore at the weekend. The man has been identified as F e a r g h a l Dason (38), from Redgate in Limerick. It is understood his body was discovered by a group of children in a stream beside the Old Bog* Road on Saturday. While the man's identity has been established, and a post mortem examination conducted by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy on Sunday confirmed that he had drowned, gardai in Oranmore and Galway are still investigating the chain of events which led to his death. Gardai have appealed to local guest house and hostel owners to check for guests who stayed in their premises last week who match the description of the dead man. He was five feet 11 inches tall, with dark hair going grey and a brown beard. Proprietors are asked to check if guests have left luggage or clothing behind them, while landowners in the area have been asked to check if any such items have been left on their land. Anyone with information which could help the investigation is asked to contact Oranmore Garda Station at (091) 794122, or Galway Garda Station at (091)538000.

G r o u p schemes to be connected to p u b l i c w a t e r supply
TWO GROUP water schemes in the Oranmore electoral area are to be connected to the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme. Dep Noel Grealish, who made representations on the schemes in his capacity as a county councillor on behalf of members of the schemes, welcomed the imminent link-up of the group schemes with the public water supply. An agreement between the Department of the Environment and Local Government and the Galway County Council has paved the way for a public water supply for members of the Casla number one and Kiltrogue Cahernashelleney group schemes. "The new link-up will result in the group scheme members having all the benefits of a constant supply of the highest quality water from the council's own supply already serving most of the county," Grealish said.
