Bertie honours his Galway troops
BY KERNAN ANDREWS FIANNA FAIL footsoldiers were presented with certificates of recognition for their services to the party by An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern when came to Galway recently. An Taoiseach Ahern attended last weekend's Fianna Fail dinner in Peacock's of Maam Cross. The tradition of the Roll of Honour being presented to those who have given their time to Fianna F&il was also be a part of the night. City members who received certificates were Mike Kelly, John Sheridan, Peg Davis, Tom Joe Furey, and Nevin Breen from the North/East Ward Galway City Comhairle Cheantair; Brendan Galvin, Vincent Feeney, Tom Browne, and John Kelleher from the South/West Ward Galway City Comhairle Cheantair. Connemara members who received certificates were Maitiu 6 Tuathail, Tomas Geoghegan, Miko Flaherty, Mairtin 6 Mairtin, and Seamus 6 Tuathail of the South Connemara Comhairle Cheantair; John Kearney, Joe O'Toole, Margaret Murray, Joseph Keaney, and Michael King of the West Connemara Comhairle Cheantair; Tomas Mulroe, Margaret Loftus, Michael Coyne, and Frank Lydon of the North Connemara Comhairle Cheantair; Tomas O Mainnin, Seamus 6 Fiannachta, Tomas 6 Cadhain, Hugh Molloy, and Mary Folan of the Mid Connemara Comhairle Cheantair. Certificates were also presented to Michael Griffith, James A Kelly, Phadraic 6 Conghaile, John Joe McDonagh, and Mhaire Ban Ui Chongaile of the Moycullen Comhairle Cheantair; Sean Ruane, Johnny Grealish, Tom Lenihen. Seamus Concannon, and Johnny Dooley from the Coolarne Comhairle Cheantair. A posthumous award was presented for the late Nicholas O'Fegan of the South/West Ward Galway City Comhairle Cheantair.
