Galway v. London in Pearse Stadium
Gaelic football is gone pretty low in Galway when supporters are worried lest London will beat Galway in Pearse Stadium, Salthill on Sunday n e x t in the Connacht S.F.C. Not that I don't appreciate the strength of the London S.F. team. In fact club competition in London is quite keen and An Rfocht (a Kerry team) and Naomh Mhuire and Garryowen are club teams with a great tradition. In fact London almost surprised Galway in Ballinasloe a few short years ago. I met a Galway based Roscommon man last Sunday who had no fears of Galway or andeed anyone in Connacht. For Roscommon's sake let us hope the people close to the team and the team itself d o n ' t a d o p t this over confident approach. For that is what it is and could be the ending of t h e m . But Roscommon will take care of themselves. Anyhow it's London oh Sunday and let us hope the official London party who are staying in the Sacre Coeur Hotel get a Cead Mile Failte. They deserve it for all the hardship they undergo to keep playing G.A.A. games in London. Sometimes travel 40 miles at their own expense by "tube" and bus to train. I trained with them in London. So did Martin Newell. There were many Galway exiles in London. They are a great bunch and they will make Galway fight hard on Sunday. But we have to win. Div. 3 T. King v Hynes South Park (B) - Ref.
