Tom Burke applied to thr Galway Corporation to build five houses and five septic tanks in Coolagh; The site is located off the R339 Monivea Roaf between the airport and thf roundabout at Ballybrit at the end of a minor public road. Permission was refused as the area is zoned A. This provides for limited development only. As such, the only houses that can be built are by the immediate members of families who live in the area. In its statement of refusal the corporation said: "No evidence has been submitted in this regard." As a result the applicatioa was found to have contravened the zoning. The application was also turned down as the development would lead to "demands for the uneconomic provision of public services and communal facilities in ai area where neither are available nor proposed". 1j
