O

ne of the most highly acclaimed 'new trad' groups currently on the music scene, Kila, will give what should be a very exciting concert on Thursday April 13 in The Black Box. As anyone who's ever seen them in action can testify, when Kila get into the musk they are sim ply amazing, awesome even.

fter a busy few months, solo artist Philip Fogarty returns with his band to play The Quay; on Tuesday April 11.
As anyone who's seen and heard Fogarty already, his is unique and very attractive Mend of trad instruments and gi tar fused with sequences and synth. Since putting out h four-track EP "Endangered Breed' last year, Fogarty h. been making inroads into some of the higher p r o f i l e I n venues, and has also been testing the waters on tl Continent. Having recently worked with an American film crew i material to be aired on the cable networks in the Unik States, he and the band are now preparing lor a late summ tour on the Continent. 1999 was Kilas breakthrough year on the international scene. They played at prestigious festivals like the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Hearing World Festival in Tel Aviv. WOMAD in Reading, and toured extensively in the United States, Australia (where Tog 6 Bog e charted), and New Zealand. As for Ireland, those who were at it know that Kila headlined one of the best ever gigs in The Black Box in Feile 2000. In individual terms, Kila comprises the two Hogan brothers, Brian and Lance; the three 6 Snodaigh brothers, Rossa, Rdnan. and Colm; Dee Armstrong, and Eoin D i l l o n All seven of them arc multi-instrumentalists and all contributed to the writing of the music on their new album Lemonade and Buns. Recording in Uachtar Ard in Co Galway. the album consists of 11 new tracks and looks set to follow the success of their previous two nil albums Mind the Gap and Tog I go Bog T the last of which went gold.
