Counciller Angela Lapton of Fine Gael was last weekend choosen to be one of her party's contenders in the European Elections to be held in June. At the party convention in Sligo she was nominated to con test the election as was Senator Paddy Harte from Donegal and outgoing MEP, Joe McCartin. He was elected in the 1984 Euro elections when Fine Gael won one seat out of three in this constituency. @ Angela Lupton was elected to Galway Borough Council in 1985 on her first son of the Galway Sports Advisorty Body, Vice Chairperson of the Western Branch of the Irish council for European Movement, a member of the Board of Leisureland and the Harbour Board Committee. She is also a member of the Managing Committee of the Social Services Residences. Apart from her political career Cllr Lupton is very involved in hockey. In 1980 she was president of the Irish Ladies Hockey Union, and from '81-'86 was Chairperson of the Irish Selectors Hockey. She also served as a delegate to the Interna tional Federation of Women's Hockey Galway was also to the fore when Enda O'ROurke of the Galway West Consti tuency was selected by the party as a replacement Euro Candidate for Connacht/Ulster with Frank O'Kelly, Donegal and Cllr Bill Cotter, Monaghan. Mr. (FRourke is the Con stituency Treasurer for the Galway West Consti tuency Executive and is Regional Sales Manager for Tennents Ireland.
