U . C . G . , having w o n their leg of t h e competition, n o w advance t o t h e final, w h i c h will b e played at t h e S p o r t s g r o u n d on S u n d a y next at 3.45 p . m . As we write we cannot say w h o their o p p o n ents will b e as t h e other semi-final has not been played in which Ballinasloe a n d Sligo arc engaged. It will b e r e m e m b e r e d that U . C . T h e y h a d won t h e league h a n d s o m e l y a n d con fidently a s s u m e d they w o u l d win t h e c u p b u t suffered a n unexpected defeat at t h e h a n d s of Ballinasloe. Will t h e same h a p p e n again this year if Ballinasloe are their o p p o n e n t s , or will they take t h e t w o trophies ? O n t h e other h a n d w h a t will b e t h e position if Sligo are in t h e final ? T h e y have n o t played U . C . G . yet this season a n d accordingly one cannot compare t h e two teams either in style or p e r formance, b u t we suspect t h e College boys would feel con fident if these t w o t e a m s m e t . Incidentally, we gather that all b u t t h r e e of t h e U . C . G . team are C o n n a c h t m e n which a u g u r s well for C o n n a c h t rugby.
