Install lights and cameras on railway line walk says Connolly
Join in this Halloween at Galway Shopping Centre!
WEDNESDAY 31ST OCTOBER TIME: 12 - 5PM TEL: (091) 561 803
BY KERNAN ANDREWS Following the tragic death of Manuela Reido, CIE must erect appropriate lighting and if necessary install cameras on the walkway between Ceannt Station and Renmore Barracks. This is the view of Independent Cllr Catherine Connolly who is also calling on the Galway City Council to carry out an audit of all public spaces under its control to ensure they are adequately lit and properly maintained. She believes such an audit must be carried out "as a matter of urgency" in consultation with the Garda and local residents. "The walkway between Ceannt Station and Renmore Barracks," Cllr Connolly said," is one of the busiest in the city and yet there is not one single light on the whole walkway to ensure users' safety."
